I’m both relieved and concerned to see that I’m not the only one whose garden has really struggled this year. I planted peas, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, chilies, aubergines, pumpkins, melons, cucumbers…

My tomatoes have just about survived, but they needed a bigger container than usual. Any in a smaller pot shrivelled up and died.

The peas, even though they were in the shade, couldn’t hack the heat. So those shrivelled up and died.

The melons were swarmed by pests.

Aubergines and peppers didn’t even take.

All I have left to pick are a handful of those tomatoes, three cucumbers and a diddy pumpkin.

It looks like we all need to work together to figure out how to adapt to these weather extremes.
