In the wake of the heatwave in May, one of my potato patches has started to look pretty horrendous.
Thing is, I know it’s okay.
There were a couple of garlic plants in there as well as the potatoes and broccoli, and they’re all fading now.
This tells me that it’s time to harvest these potatoes, and the garlic, and to put the broccoli seed pods away for next year. This patch has fulfilled its purpose, and now it’s time to put something else in there. This spot will be perfect for my tomatoes!
That’s how nature goes. Sometimes harsh conditions hit, and we suffer, but there’s always something to reap, always some good to find. It may not always feel proportional to the suffering, but only time will tell.
I’m going to pick my potatoes, and pray that they came through big enough and plentiful enough this time around.
