Now this post is going to highlight how easy it is to fail or make mistakes with gardening.

You see the cardboard egg case? That was meant to be to help aubergine seeds start to grow. The problem? I didn’t put them in a supportive tray. When the rain came, the whole thing disintegrated.

But it’s the big pot that irks and confuses me the most. I planted some saffron bulbs in there in September (as per all the advice I read online). They shot up, looked really tall and green and cool, and then collapsed to look like weird, dying long grass. I know saffron is meant to go through a hibernation stage, but when does it come back? When do you get the flowers? I’m so annoyed at this failure, I’m really hoping it’ll bounce back once spring has fully kicked into gear.

Anyone got any advice?
